2010 Camp Recap

Due to the fact that Joe’s Camp 2010 is the 10th Annual Camp, we wanted to do something extra special for the campers this year.  We decided to fly-in Ganon Baker, one of the world’s most sought after basketball trainers to work with the kids.  Ganon arrived Tuesday morning at 3:30 a.m., and after only three hours of sleep, gave the kids a basketball experience that they will never forget.  It was an amazing opportunity for the campers and coaches alike, who learned a lot from Ganon. 

 

 

Although, having a world class basketball trainer working with the kids was great, it was not the only highlight of the camp.  BNS Technical Director, Mickey Fox,  ran an hour long shooting session on Monday, and Horton Girls’ Head Coach, Deon Wilson, ran two hours of skill development sessions on Monday as well.  Coaches, Jamie MacDonald (CPA Girls), Augy Jones (SMU), JR Downey (BNS 14U), Shannon Hansen (Halifax Rainmen), and Derico Symonds (MSVU), did an unbelievable job over the two days of camp.  They went above and beyond expectations, and the kids were lucky to have them as coaches. 

 

JR’s Blue Team, led by Camp MVP, Johneil Johnson, and All-Star, Jordan Reid, defeated Augy’s Green Team in the Championship Game on Tuesday.  Shannon’s Red Team defeated Derico’s Black Team to finish in third place. 

 

Jonathan Hiles won the Free Throw Shootout by sinking 12 out of 15 free throws in the final round. 

 

Levi Smith III defeated Johneil Johnson, Levi Smith, and Tyler Martin in the On-on-One Championship finals.
