Joe's Camp 2011

Bantam Elite Basketball Camp - Est. 2000

Ganon Baker at Joe’s Camp ‘10

Since Joe’s Camp 2010 was the 10th annual camp, we wanted to do something extra special for the campers.  We decided that NBA Skills Coach, Ganon Baker, would be the perfect choice to bring in to work with the kids.

I had been lucky enough to work with Ganon in 2005 at his skills clinic at Sackville High, and his basketball camp at Lockeport High School in 2007.   I was blown away by his energy and enthusiasm.  He displayed an extraordinary ability to teach and motivate young basketball players.  Simply put, if he was available, we had to get him at our camp.

After some negotiation, I was able to hire Ganon to come to Halifax to work camps for three days in late August.

He almost didn’t make it to the camp in time, due to a delayed flight from Philadelphia, which was nearly cancelled.   Luckily, he was able to get out of Philadelphia that night, and made it to Halifax at 3:30 a.m., the night before our second day of camp.  After only getting about three hours of sleep, Ganon did an amazing job at the camp.  You would never have known that he was running on only three hours of sleep.  The kids and coaches were blown away by Ganon.  As coach Shannon Hansen said, “his energy level never dips—it’s constant.”

Ganon ran two more days of skill development clinics in Dartmouth, before heading home to Virginia on his 38th birthday, on August 27th.  Having Ganon here was a wonderful experience for everyone involved with the camp.
