Joe's Camp 2010

Bantam Elite Basketball Camp - Est. 2000

2009 Camp Recap

Joe’s Camp 2009 was definitely one of the best camps yet.  Coaches, Mark McLaughlin (Black Team), Christian Upshaw (Green Team), Derico Symonds (Blue Team) and Shannon Hansen (Red Team) did a great job getting the most out of their teams.  All of the campers competed hard which made the 5-on-5 tournament great to watch.  In the end, T-Bear’s Green Team, led by Camp MVP Nevell Provo and All-Star Perdell Downey defeated the Black Team in the championship game.

Coach Deon Wilson (Horton Girls) did an excellent job leading the individual skill development drills at Joe’s Camp 2009.  Deon is one of the top skill development coaches in Atlantic Canada and we are always lucky to have him at the camp.  Also, Dalhousie University Men’s Coach, John Campbell, gave a terrific speech to the campers about the importance of working hard and staying out of trouble.  He told the campers that university coaches are looking for “low maintenance players.”  In other words, university coaches look for players who they don’t have to worry about.  Coach Campbell explained that players who get into trouble and fail classes are high maintenance players.

12-year-old Ben Kidston won the Free-Throw Shootout by sinking 14 out of 15 free-throws in the championship round.  Congratulations Ben!  Click here for a list of the other 2009 competition winners as well as all of the other award winners from previous years.
